Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology and Hepatology 2019 is designed to update health care providers practicing in gastroenterology and hepatology about new approaches to the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Faculty will present data on multiple topics including general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal neoplasia, esophageal diseases, motility, nutrition, pancreaticobiliary disorders, endoscopy and hepatology.

Target Audience

This course is designed for practicing gastroenterologists, surgeons, GI fellows, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, individuals specializing in gastrointestinal endoscopy, and primary care physicians with an interest in gastroenterology.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize common causes for drug induced liver injury.
  • Identify current treatment options for HCV treatment.
  • Summarize various treatment options for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
  • Discuss various guidelines for the management and surveillance of pancreatic cysts.
  • Describe treatment options for C. difficile infection.
  • Review dietary and medical management of eosinophilic esophagitis.
  • Summarize treatment approaches to irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Describe new techniques and tools for endoscopic hemostasis.

The Westin Kierland Resort has reserved a block of luxurious rooms for course participants and guests at a special group rate of $319 (USD), per room, per night, single or double occupancy, plus applicable state and local taxes in effect at the time of check-in. Children younger than 17 years of age staying in an adult’s room are complimentary. Third or fourth adult person rates are $50. Complimentary guest room internet (wireless or hard wired) is included in the group rate. Group rates will apply three days prior to and three days after the course dates, based on group room availability.

Guests may “opt in” or “opt out” of the daily resort services fee, a reduced rate of $25 per room, per night, plus taxes, which includes local and long distance domestic and 1-800 guest room calls, access to Agave Spa Yoga and Well Walk fitness classes, expanded shuttle service on a schedule to Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter, and tennis course and equipment rental.  If guests elect to “opt out,” all services and amenities will be available at a la carte pricing.

Check-in time is 4:00 p.m.  Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
