Simulation Center Educational Session
Mayo Clinic Simulation Center - Wednesday, July 29, 2015, 1:30-5:30 pm – $50
This optional hands-on workshop in the Mayo Clinic Simulation Center will engage participants in interactive education sessions covering hematologic and oncologic emergencies, marrow aspiration, intrathecal/Omaya chemotherapy administration, breaking bad news communication, hematology/oncology emergencies and MRI interpretation among others.

Roundtrip transportation will be provided from the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island to the Mayo Clinic campus. Registration is limited for this session.

Travel and Lodging Accommodations
The Ritz-Carlton is offering coastal view hotel rooms for attendees and their guests at the group rate of $239 per night plus applicable taxes. In order to receive the special rate, reservations must be made before the room block is filled or before the expiration date of June 13, 2015, whichever comes first. The resort has extended the group rate three days before the meeting and three days after the meeting based on availability. Check-in time is after 4:00 PM and checkout time is before noon. Contact reservations at 866-763-2960 (toll-free) and identify yourself as a participant of the Mayo Clinic Hematology/Oncology Reviews course or reserve online. Guests receive complimentary in-room internet service. Rooms are limited so we encourage early booking. All parking at the resort is provided by valet service. Overnight parking at the resort is $14 per night. Day guest parking is complimentary.  Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is located 35 minutes from The Ritz-Carlton at Amelia Island.

This course is intended for practicing hematologists, medical oncologists, scientists, researchers, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists and clinical research associates.

Learning Objectives

 

Upon Conclusion of this program participants should be able to:

  • List new practice-changing developments in hematology and medical oncology in 2014 - 2015
  • Select the appropriate clinical conditions in oncology and hematology where new treatments were developed in 2014 and 2015
  • Identify risks and benefits of new treatments approved by the FDA
  • Address the most important management issues in hematology/oncology and select the best treatments based on current evidence
