This one day interactive, case-based course is designed for healthcare professionals aiming to enhance their expertise in Nail fold video capillaroscopy and its utility in diagnosing complex rheumatologic conditions beyond Raynaud’s and scleroderma. Topics include learning about techniques and available tools, normal findings and abnormalities, scleroderma pattern seen in connective tissue disease and other nonspecific abnormalities as well as learning about utility in research and manual quantification along with machine learning utility in quantification. Learner will have the opportunity to practice and develop hands-on skills on the nail fold video capillaroscopy technique and quantification under supervision of experts in the field of nail fold video capillaroscopy from Mayo Clinic.
By integrating Nail fold video capillaroscopy in current practice, this course equips clinicians with the tools needed to add additional tools to help in patients with diagnostic uncertainty.
Target Audience
This course is designed for rheumatologists, internists, dermatologists, vascular medicine specialists, and trainees who are involved in the evaluation and management of patients with Raynaud’s phenomenon and systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases.
It is particularly relevant for clinicians and researchers seeking to gain practical skills in nailfold video capillaroscopy, improve image acquisition and interpretation, and integrate capillaroscopic findings into daily clinical practice and research.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Examine the current knowledge of the NVC utility in distinguishing primary versus secondary Raynaud's.
- Develop proficiency in interpreting nail fold video capillaroscopy finding, distinguish normal versus abnormal and identify scleroderma patterns suggestive of connective tissue disease.
- Distinguish early versus active versus late scleroderma pattern.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform nail fold video capillaroscopy and manual quantification as well as utility of AI in quantification.
