Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are finding themselves at the forefront of caring for the vastly growing hospitalized patient population. The 7th Annual Hospital Medicine for Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants (NPPA) course is designed to provide NPPA hospitalists with up to date, evidence-based information and resources on the care of complex hospitalized patients. This course is specifically geared toward nurse practitioners and physician assistants as well as pharmacists, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, and other health care providers who care for hospitalized patients. Sessions will focus on contemporary hospital practice, including guideline-based, best practices, clinical care pathways, diagnostic and treatment algorithms, and common clinical dilemmas. Lectures will be structured in an interactive format with case based presentations to maximize learning for those attending.

Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Analyze the future of hospital medicine and examine the vital roles NPPAs will play in providing care to hospitalized patients.
- Recognize common mistakes made when caring for geriatric hospitalized patients.
- Identify current evidence based practice recommendations in specialties such as cardiology, infectious disease, nephrology, gastroenterology, and hospital medicine.
- Describe optimal management of acute decompensated heart failure.
- Initiate appropriate and timely consultation with specialty services.
