This interactive course provides important updates in infectious diseases including a review of new developments, guidelines and literature in the field. Information is presented in case-based and interactive sessions, in-depth discussions, and debates, and are geared towards increasing clinician knowledge, performance and patient outcomes. The 2019 course focuses on emerging global infections, central nervous system infections, new molecular microbiology diagnostics, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, Clostridium difficile infection, Gram negative resistance and new antimicrobials for gram negative organisms, and review of new guidelines and topics for day to day relevance to the ID clinician. Attendees will leave with up-to-date, practical information that can be applied immediately to their clinical practice.

Target Audience

This course is designed for infectious disease specialists, infectious diseases trainees, internists, pharmacists, hospitalists, and clinical researchers. The content will also benefit physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, family physicians and clinical microbiologists.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the diagnosis and management of emerging global infectious diseases
  • Identify and describe principles of diagnosis and management of hepatitis B and C and co-infection of Hepatitis C and HIV
  • Document the spectrum of non-tuberculous and tuberculous mycobacterial infections
  • Confidently identify advances in molecular diagnostics including significance of the microbiome
  • Describe epidemiology and new treatment paradigms in Gram-negative bacterial infections

There is no charge for children under eighteen (18) years of age sharing the same room with their parents and utilizing existing bedding. There will be an additional charge of $75.00 per night, plus tax for the third adult (18 years or older) in a room. Daily Resort Charge ($15): 

The daily resort charge of $30 is discounted at a rate of $15 per room per night plus tax for all attendees staying at the resort. The fee includes the following:

  • Local, domestic long distance and 1-800 access calls from your guest room
  • In-room bottled water, refreshed daily at turndown

Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
