An Overview of Perioperative Medicine is intended to update general internists, internist-sub specialists, family medicine specialists, and other health care providers on perioperative assessment and management. This course will focus on the practical, clinical side of preoperative assessment and postoperative management. The course will feature a collaborative faculty of multi-specialty experts in perioperative medicine from both Mayo Clinic and Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

Target Audience
The course is designed for clinicians who see perioperative patients. This includes internists, hospitalists, family physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, NP’s, PA’s, and nurse anesthetists.
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Apply a systematic approach to guide preoperative assessment.
- Recommend the appropriate continuation and discontinuation of medications and nutraceuticals in the perioperative setting.
- Assess, optimize and manage a variety of medical co-morbidities in the perioperative setting
