This Mayo Clinic and Kaiser Permanente collaboration offers a comprehensive family medicine update course designed for practicing primary care and family medicine providers. This course highlights the latest recommendations involving medical specialties important to the primary care setting that can be applied immediately into practice. For those attending in person, the use of lectures, panel, and roundtable discussions offer attendees opportunities to interact with faculty.
Target Audience
This course is designed for family physicians, general internists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses in primary care and family practice.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the appropriate immunizations administered to children and adults for protection against preventable, infectious diseases
- Recognize how to integrate skills for a proper shoulder examination and diagnosis
- Describe alternative nonstatin treatment options in hyperlipidemia
- Formulate a management approach for a patient with thrombocytopenia

The new Heart Disease ABFM-developed KSA activity focuses on diagnosis and management of acute coronary syndrome and other manifestations of ischemic heart disease, as well as stable and acute decompensated heart failure.
