This course brings together academic and industry experts in early cancer detection. The goal of the course is to explore emerging innovations in multicancer detection (MCD) as a population screening tool, cell-free DNA (cfDNA), multimodal detection platforms, and precision cancer treatment. Leveraging Mayo Clinic’s integrated practice model, participants examine current advances, clinical applications, implementation challenges, and collaborative opportunities to accelerate innovation and improve cancer outcomes. Join leading academic, clinical, and industry experts to explore innovations that are transforming early cancer detection. This activity highlights advances in multicancer detection (MCD) as a population screening tool, cell-free DNA (cfDNA), multimodal detection platforms and precision cancer treatment and interception, while addressing clinical implementation, collaboration, and strategies to accelerate translation into practice.

Target Audience

This course is designed for healthcare professionals involved in the care of early cancer detection and management which may benefit from this program.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the science behind MCD tests that utilize methylation patterns of cell-free tumor DNA to help identify presymptomatic cancer.
  • Describe the currently available multicancer detection (MCD) tests used for population screening and key operating characteristics.
  • Recognize the challenges associated with diagnostic evaluations of patients with abnormal MCD testing including emerging best practices for management of unconfirmed positive results.
  • Describe the role of tumor genomic profiling in identifying actionable genomic alterations and informing precision oncology strategies.
