As hospital care models continue to evolve; NPs and PAs are playing an increasingly vital role in the care delivery of hospitalized patients. This conference focuses on providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines and treatment pathways necessary to optimally care for hospitalized patients. The course covers topics in critical care, hospital general medicine, surgery, neurology, hematology, cardiology, psychology, pain management and other medical subspecialties and features multiple options for skills workshops to further tailor the educational needs of NPs and PAs.
Target Audience
This course is designed for hospitalists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, advance practice nurses, registered nurses, allied health professionals, physicians and residents.
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this course, the learner should be able to :
- Describe a rational approach to assessment and management of the high acuity hospitalized patient
- Formulate an action plan based on scientific rationale, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines.
- Choose appropriate and timely consultation and/or referral when necessary.|
- Describe heart failure management in complex hospitalized patients.
- Describe approach to hospitalized patients with thrombocytopenia.
- Review the impact the COVID pandemic has had on patients with substance abuse disorders and be able to provide evidence based treatment options.
- Recognize hypertensive emergency and appropriately manage.
