Mayo Clinic’s Critical Care Review for the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant is an interactive course designed for Advanced Practice Providers working with critically ill adult patients. A lecture-based session on Day 1 covers essential topics such as sepsis, respiratory failure, pharmacology and more. A hands-on session on Day 2 provides both introductory and advanced concepts in ultrasound, airway management, and bedside procedures necessary for daily practice in an Intensive Care setting.
Course Highlights
- Combines lectures and hands-on workshops from multidisciplinary faculty
- Faculty is comprised of critical care nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians, nutritionists, and pharmacists
- Basic concepts will be reinforced and up-to-date, evidence-based diagnostic and treatment strategies will be presented regarding the management of commonly and uncommonly encountered diagnoses in the ICU
- Day 1 features lectures on sepsis, respiratory failure, pharmacology, and more, while Day 2 features hands-on sessions for both introductory and advanced concepts in ultrasound, airway management, and bedside procedures necessary for ICU daily practice.

Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Define common organ failure syndromes in the critically ill, such as respiratory failure, shock, and sepsis
- Practice evidence-based strategies for management of complex patients with multiorgan system dysfunction
- Classify and intervene on a variety of commonly seen neurologic emergencies
- Develop skills in ultrasonographic image acquisition and interpretation, basic and advance airway management, vascular access, and other common procedures in critical care

Parking
Parking is available in multiple lots near the Cannaday Building no charge, as well as in the Mayo patient/visitor ramp adjacent to the Davis Building on Mayo Boulevard at $5 per day on Friday and no charge on Saturday. The cost for parking is not included in the registration fee.
