Mayo Clinic’s Critical Care Review for the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant is an interactive course designed for Advanced Practice Providers working with critically ill adult patients.  A lecture-based session on Day 1 covers essential acute care topics such as sepsis, respiratory failure, pharmacology and more.  A hands-on session on Day 2 provides both introductory and advanced concepts in ultrasound, airway management (intubation, tracheotomy, cricothyrotomy), and bedside procedures necessary for daily practice in an Intensive Care setting.   • Combines lectures and hands-on workshops from multidisciplinary faculty

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Define common organ failure syndromes in the critically ill, such as respiratory failure, shock, and sepsis
  • Practice evidence-based strategies for management of complex patients with multiorgan system dysfunction
  • Classify and intervene on a variety of commonly seen neurologic emergencies
  • Develop skills in ultrasonographic image acquisition and interpretation, basic and advance airway management, vascular access, and other common procedures in critical care
