Target Audience

This CNE course is designed for nurses in hematology/oncology or who are interested in the specialty.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe staging, management and long term concerns of breast, colorectal, lung, prostate, bladder, testicular, kidney, skin, and gynecological cancers and hematology malignancies (leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma)
  • Outline cancer basics, goals of treatment, and nursing considerations for the cancer patient
  • Outline pharmacology principles of cancer patient care, including pain management and supportive care
  • Identify survivorship concerns for cancer patients
  • Outline structural and metabolic oncology emergencies and the role of the RN in assessing, managing, and caring for these diagnoses
