Mayo Clinic’s Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Symposium is dedicated to the latest advancements in head and neck cancer care, encompassing surgical oncology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and symptom control/survivorship. This three-day symposium features a blend of multidisciplinary sessions and specialized tracks, including hands-on learning and small breakout sessions. It begins with a multidisciplinary session on day one, continues with subspecialty breakouts on day two, and concludes with another multidisciplinary session on day three.

 

Target Audience

This course is intended for otolaryngologists, head and neck surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, laboratory scientists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, oncology pharmacists, oncology nurses, speech and language pathologists, physical therapists, dietitians, dentists, clinical research personnel, and other allied health staff involved in the care of head and neck cancer patients. Specialties include medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology/ENT, pathology, radiology, and laboratory research science.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Examine the latest advancements in mucosal head and neck cancer care.
  • Describe best practices for symptom control in head and neck survivorship.
  • Develop effective community engagement strategies to enhance HPV vaccination uptake.
  • Discuss novel treatment options for head and neck cancer patients.
  • Discuss multidisciplinary management of acute toxicity for head and neck cancer patients.
  • Evaluate the role of biomarkers in treatment planning for head and neck cancer patients.
