This course offers targeted antimicrobial pharmacology education in which participants gain practical insights relevant to various practice settings.  Using case-based presentation and in-depth discussions, subject matter experts cover topics including, pharmacokinetics, mechanism of action, dosing, and spectrum for approved and pipeline therapies.  Real-life scenarios including drug interactions in tuberculosis and HIV are explored, and cutting-edge techniques like beta-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring are reviewed.  Expert panels debate contemporary infection management.  Additionally, this course provides valuable insights into individualized medicine principles.

Target Audience

This course is relevant for infectious diseases specialists, infectious diseases trainees, internists, pharmacists, and hospitalists. The content also benefits physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and family physicians with interest in managing patients with infections.

Learning Objectives

Travel

Rochester, Minnesota is serviced by the Rochester International Airport (RST) with multiple flights and connections daily. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles south from the Mayo Clinic campus.

Note to Travelers: Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you make airline reservations and check your baggage, be sure that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota (RST) and that your baggage has been properly tagged.

Flying through the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is another option. There are two shuttle services that provide direct service to Mayo Clinic and the surrounding area. MSP is located approximately 80 miles north of Rochester with a drive time of approximately 90 minutes.
