ForwardEmpathic Communication 2021 - LIVESTREAM
*This course is for Mayo Clinic Personnel ONLY*
This communication workshop consists of a one to two hour interactive presentation that focuses on equipping providers with the skills to build rapport, respond to their patients physical and emotional needs, and navigate challenging or sensitive conversations. The course work includes didactic education as well as small group sessions where learners have an opportunity to practice their communication skills with one another.
Target Audience
This activity is appropriate for all Mayo staff members, and specifically for Physicians, NP's, PA's, RN's along with all other health care providers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Explain the benefits of empathic communication in healthcare
- Describe strategies for navigating situations that involve challenging communication
- Demonstrate two empathic skills that can be used with patients
