Hand and wrist injuries are common across a variety of sports and can lead to significant disability. In this CME webinar, Mayo Clinic experts will discuss common hand and wrist pathologies and recommendations for treatment. Laura Mattson, D.O., Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellow, will review common injury patterns, related anatomy, and basic principles of treatment and return to play. James Braxton, Mayo Clinic Certified Hand and Occupational Therapist, will discuss rehabilitation strategies with the goal of return to sport.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the mechanisms of select acute hand and wrist injuries in sport
  • Identify appropriate physical exam maneuvers and imaging studies to employ in the diagnosis of select acute hand and wrist injuries in sport
  • Describe basic principles of treatment, rehabilitation and return to sport in select acute hand and wrist injuries
