Employment of nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) is projected to increase within surgical practices to offset growing workforce demands. With goals to improve outcomes, surgical professionals must be apprised of the latest advances in treatment and management and understand and implement best practice models to optimize team-based care. This course is specifically geared toward the educational needs of surgery NPs, PAs, and other healthcare professionals in both private practice and academic settings.
Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Formulate appropriate treatment plans for common postoperative complications/diagnoses.
- Identify surgical ergonomic risk factors and implement surgical ergonomics through postural resets, intraoperative breaks, and surgical warm-ups.
- Summarize best practices for preoperative optimization of the surgical patient.
- Describe methods for maintaining a sterile field and identify appropriate actions when breaks in sterile technique occur.
- Describe specific considerations for the surgical patient with cardiovascular disease and management of perioperative anticoagulation.
- Describe specific considerations for the surgical oncology patient.

Location
The Conrad Orlando is offering hotel rooms for attendees and their guests at the group rate of $379.00 per night, plus applicable taxes. To make an online reservation please click HERE.
For call-in reservations, please call 1-800-266-7237 and provide the group code “APSC” to the reservations agent along with the dates of the program, May 2-4, 2024 to receive the special rate. Reservations must be made by March 31, 2024, before the room block is filled, whichever comes first. There is limited guest room availability at the special rate; extended reservations are based on availability. The standard hotel reservations cancellation policy will apply to all reservations.
Conrad Orlando charges a nightly Resort Fee of $25 per room. This conveniently bundles a wide variety of guest services and amenities providing our guests with a full and carefree resort experience. The fee includes all of the following:
