Course Directors: Drs. Sheila Jowsey-Gregoire and Hatem Amer, on behalf of the Chauvet Steering Commitee.

This is the 4th International Chauvet Workshop. Experts in the fields of psychiatry and psychology, transplantation, social work, ethics, and transplant administration met and reviewed center experiences and literature. Psychiatric complications in upper extremity transplanted patients have been reported by the majority of teams. The participants proposed an annual meeting forum to build upon the findings of the inaugural meeting.

Target Audience

This meeting is of interest to all health care providers who care for individuals with upper extremity amputations, severe facial disfigurement, absolute uterine factor infertility and those with loss of laryngeal function and all VCA candidates and recipients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the psychosocial aspects of patients with upper extremity amputations, severe facial disfigurement, absolute uterine factory infertility and those with loss of laryngeal function
  • Review the latest research findings for VCA candidates and recipients
