This is a comprehensive hands-on single day course designed to teach urological surgeons basic safety, skills, and advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques utilizing a single port robotic platform.  The course will utilize a stepwise approach beginning with didactic sessions on basic considerations of single port surgery followed by a hands-on dry lab emphasizing instrument manipulation, troubleshooting, and basic surgical technique. Cutting-edge video case based presentations and discussion will be utilized to enhance the attendees experience during the cadaveric wet lab.  During these small group breakout sessions, participants will have the opportunity to perform various oncologic and reconstructive urologic procedures on cadaveric specimens utilizing the single port platform.

Target Audience

This course is designed for Urology surgeons.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the different camera modes of the single port surgical robot, when to use them, and safety considerations of each.
  • Demonstrate the use the single port surgical robot for one-handed and two-handed suturing techniques.
  • Describe medical and safety considerations related to instrument insertion, removal, and tool change.
  • Apply robotic surgical techniques to the specific example of ureter to bladder anastomosis.
