This course reviews the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiac and vascular diseases of patients with cancer throughout the continuum of their care. The course provides an overview and update of cardiovascular complications and comorbid cardiovascular diseases in patients with cancer including heart failure, myocardial ischemia, hypertension, thromboembolism, and arrhythmia. This multidisciplinary course includes lectures by faculty from cardiology, hematology, oncology, and nephrology. The course is directed towards the spectrum of providers who care for patients with cancer to enable them to recognize the cardiovascular risk of their patients and take action to minimize this risk. This includes providers in cardiology, hematology-oncology, primary care, and hospital internal medicine.

*NEW*  IC-OS Board Review Sessions.   During the optional sessions, IC-OS members will review board style questions with participants.  Participation in all board review sessions will offer 3.00 additional credit hours and requires separate registration.  The target audience is attendees who are considering registering for the IC-OS Cardio-Oncology Board Certification Exam (https://ic-os.org/board-certification-admin/) or any attendees who are interested in additional cardio-oncology education in a question and answer format.  The objectives of the board review sessions are to:
  1. Solidify knowledge gained throughout the course by reviewing board style questions and answers with cardio-oncology experts
  2. Help prepare participants for the IC-OS Cardio-Oncology Board Certification certificate exam

Target Audience

This course is designed for general cardiologists, heart failure specialists, and advanced practice providers working in cardiology who either currently practice cardio-oncology or aim to expand their practice into the field to optimize the care of this patient population. The course is also designed for providers in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine as they are often the first to encounter and diagnose patients with cardiotoxicity related to cancer therapies.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review the chemotherapeutic agents most commonly associated with a cardiovascular risk.
  • Assess cardiac risk associated with the most common cancers and their therapies using a disease oriented and case-based approach.
  • Identify cardiac risk associated with hormonal therapy for prostate and breast cancer and how to mitigate that risk.
  • Recognize features of cardiac amyloid, develop a stepwise approach to confirming the diagnosis, and review treatment of cardiac amyloid.

A charge of $30.00 per person, per night will be added to the folio for each guest over double occupancy. There will be no charge for children up to and including the age of 18 years who share the room with their parents.

DISCOUNTED GROUP RESORT FEE (Including internet access throughout resort):
A daily resort service charge of $25.00 for single (or $40.00 double occupancy) plus tax of 14.02% will be charged to each group attendee’s daily room folio. Individual group guests will receive a bundle of added values for the payment of the daily group resort fee. They will receive the following additional amenities:

  • Daily basic internet access in guestrooms (normally $14.99 per room/day)
  • Daily basic internet access (appropriate for checking emails, basic internet searches, etc.) in meeting space and public areas (normally $30.00 per person/day)
  • Daily maid gratuity ($2.00 per person/per day)
  • Roundtrip porterage cost ($12.00 round trip/per person)
  • $25 Spa credit per paid night, towards a body or facial treatment at our Well & Being Spa (this credit is not accumulative and is valid once per day).
