*NEW* IC-OS Board Review Sessions. During the optional sessions, IC-OS members will review board style questions with participants. Participation in all board review sessions will offer 3.00 additional credit hours and requires separate registration. The target audience is attendees who are considering registering for the IC-OS Cardio-Oncology Board Certification Exam (https://ic-os.org/board-certification-admin/) or any attendees who are interested in additional cardio-oncology education in a question and answer format. The objectives of the board review sessions are to:
- Solidify knowledge gained throughout the course by reviewing board style questions and answers with cardio-oncology experts
- Help prepare participants for the IC-OS Cardio-Oncology Board Certification certificate exam
This course is designed for general cardiologists, heart failure specialists, and advanced practice providers working in cardiology who either currently practice cardio-oncology or aim to expand their practice into the field to optimize the care of this patient population. The course is also designed for providers in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine as they are often the first to encounter and diagnose patients with cardiotoxicity related to cancer therapies.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the chemotherapeutic agents most commonly associated with a cardiovascular risk.
- Assess cardiac risk associated with the most common cancers and their therapies using a disease oriented and case-based approach.
- Identify cardiac risk associated with hormonal therapy for prostate and breast cancer and how to mitigate that risk.
- Recognize features of cardiac amyloid, develop a stepwise approach to confirming the diagnosis, and review treatment of cardiac amyloid.
Attendance at any Mayo Clinic course does not indicate or guarantee competence or proficiency in the skills, knowledge or performance of any care or procedure(s) which may be discussed or taught in this course.
