The 4th Annual Mayo Clinic Thyroid and Parathyroid Disorders Course 2023 is a three-day CME course offering a comprehensive review of diagnostic techniques and medical and surgical management of thyroid and parathyroid disorders. Topics of discussion include the assessment of benign thyroid diseases as well as pre-and postoperative management of thyroid cancer and parathyroid disorders. Discussions include review of cutting-edge imaging modalities and diagnostic methods such as molecular testing for evaluation of thyroid nodules as well as therapeutic options for the management of benign and malignant thyroid and parathyroid conditions. This course consists of a combination of lectures and panel discussions about diagnostic and therapeutic options for management of challenging parathyroid and thyroid cases, as well as roundtable small group discussions with various experienced speakers.
Abstract Session - Deadline September 29, 2023
As part of the 4th Annual Mayo Clinic Thyroid and Parathyroid Disorders Course poster session, the presentation of original research related to the field of diagnostic techniques and medical and surgical management of thyroid and parathyroid disorders will be held at the meeting. Accepted abstract recipients will be notified by email after the deadline. Registration is required for all poster presenters.
Submitted abstracts may include: the assessment of benign thyroid diseases as well as pre-and postoperative management of thyroid cancer and parathyroid disorders; review of cutting-edge imaging modalities and diagnostic methods such as molecular testing for evaluation of thyroid nodules as well as therapeutic options for the management of benign and malignant thyroid and parathyroid conditions. Target Audience
The course is designed for endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, head and neck surgeons, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other providers who care for patients with thyroid and parathyroid disorders.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review parathyroid and thyroid (benign and malignant) disorders including best practices
- Identify indications for parathyroid surgery and medical management of parathyroid diseases
- Discuss the role and accuracy of parathyroid imaging in detection of parathyroid lesions and new promising imaging modalities
- Describe diagnosis and management of various parathyroid disorders in various complex conditions to include chronic kidney disease
- Review non-surgical and surgical management of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer
- Review updated guidelines for the management of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer
- Discuss modern management of Graves Disease and Thyroid Eye Disease
- Identify medication related changes on thyroid function testing
- Assess the optimal management of hypothyroidism
- Discuss recent advances and changes in clinical practice
