Mayo Clinic's 97th Annual Clinical Reviews seeks to update primary care providers on the latest recommendations involving medical subspecialties. The course provides a comprehensive program of lectures on topics of general interest in medicine, surgery, and pediatrics relevant to clinical practice.
This course also offers an optional pre-course ABFM Knowledge Self-Assessment session the preceding Sunday, November 5, 2023. Available at registration.
Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses practicing in primary care, family medicine, and internal medicine.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the appropriate immunizations administered to children and adults for protection against preventable infectious diseases
- Describe new guidelines on the surgical evaluation and treatment for benign prostatic hypertrophy
- Define a surveillance and management plan for breast cancer survivors in the primary care clinic
- Assess symptoms of long COVID and devise a treatment plan for symptom management
- Identify appropriate tools for identification and management of pediatric obesity
- Recommend a management strategy for challenging behavioral symptoms in the patient with dementia
- Identify opportunities to enhance the accuracy of the physical examination for diagnosing common musculoskeletal conditions
- Review current guidelines for asthma diagnosis and treatment

Travel
Rochester, Minnesota, is a friendly city that greets thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The city is serviced by a modern international airport with multiple flights and connections daily. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles from the Mayo Clinic campus.
Note to Travelers: Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you make airline reservations and check your baggage, be sure that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota (RST) and that your baggage has been properly tagged.
Flying through the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is another option. There are two shuttle services that provide direct service to Mayo Clinic and the surrounding area. Travel time is approximately 90 minutes.

ABIM Maintenance of Certification
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 19.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Participant information will be shared with ABIM through PARS.
AAFP
The AAFP has reviewed 97th Annual Clinical Reviews and deemed it acceptable for up to 19.50 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 11/06/2023 to 11/08/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
AAPA
Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 19.50 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
ANCC
Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science designates this activity for a maximum of 19.50 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
