On November 27, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the USGS reported that Mauna Loa Volcano began erupting.  Currently, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reports the leading edge of the lave flow on Mauna Loa's northeast flank remains at a high elevation of over 9,000 feet.  The northeast flank of Mauna Loa is not populated, and lava continues to not pose a threat to any communities or infrastructure at this time.  The lava flow has had no direct effect to the resort community, Kona International Airport, or surrounding areas.  All business activity on Hawaii island has continued without disruption.  The safety and security of all guests is the number one priority at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely.  Please visit USGS for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
