Target Audience

This multidisciplinary course is intended for healthcare providers who care for wound care patients. Disciplines include physicians, pedorthists, podiatrists, advanced practice providers (NP/PA, RN, CNS, LPN, etc.), physical therapists, dietitians, and others who care for wound care patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the principles underlying the care of chronic wounds
  • Describe systemic factors that may impair healing
  • Describe specific diagnostic tests related to wound assessment
  • Discuss palliative, skilled nursing and community wound care
  • Describe how best to perform wound telehealth in an acute care setting
  • Discuss the importance of nutrition to heal chronic wounds
  • Identify special considerations for bariatric wound care
  • List multiple ways to perform ostomy and fistula wound care
  • Demonstrate multiple modalities in wound care
