This multidisciplinary course is intended for healthcare providers who care for wound care patients. Disciplines include physicians, pedorthists, podiatrists, advanced practice providers (NP/PA, RN, CNS, LPN, etc.), physical therapists, dietitians, and others who care for wound care patients.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the principles underlying the care of chronic wounds
- Describe systemic factors that may impair healing
- Describe specific diagnostic tests related to wound assessment
- Discuss palliative, skilled nursing and community wound care
- Describe how best to perform wound telehealth in an acute care setting
- Discuss the importance of nutrition to heal chronic wounds
- Identify special considerations for bariatric wound care
- List multiple ways to perform ostomy and fistula wound care
- Demonstrate multiple modalities in wound care
