Our expert faculty of critical care attending physicians, advanced practice providers, and pharmacists will guide you through lecture-based sessions covering essential acute care topics such as vasoactive support, ECMO, secondary trauma assessment, intracranial pressure, anticoagulant reversal, acute liver failure, toxicology, and more. The course offers optional ultrasound and procedural skills workshops, providing both introductory and advanced concepts in ultrasound, airway management, and bedside procedures necessary for daily practice in an intensive care setting.

Abstract Session - Deadline July 12, 2024

As part of the Innovative Horizons: Transforming Critical Care Medicine 2024, all trainees involved in critical care medicine are invited to submit an abstract for presentation of original research dedicated to the field of critical care medicine. Projects can be clinical or laboratory based. Abstracts should be 300 words or less and may include one figure or table.

Abstract Eligibility: Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered. Previously published abstracts should be sufficiently modified.

  • Abstracts are limited to 300 words

Notification of Results: All primary authors will be notified by Friday, July 19, 2024, if their submission has been selected for presentation.  Details regarding presentation will follow.

Presentation of Abstracts: Abstracts chosen for presentation will be uploaded to the conference website and presented during the live & livestream Innovative Horizons:  Transforming Critical Care Conference

Scholarship & Registration Requirements:  Primary authors selected for presentation at conference will receive a full scholarship to attend the course.  Fellows who submitted abstracts but not chosen to present will receive a scholarship for reduced registration fee to the course.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe evidence-based strategies for management of acutely ill and complex patients with multiorgan system dysfunction.
  • Identify need for consultation and communicate effectively to ensure timely multidisciplinary care as per the evolving needs of the patients.
  • Demonstrate point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) competency
