Designed for physicians, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers across diverse specialties and clinical settings—ranging from inpatient to outpatient, virtual to in-person, and rural to urban—it equips non-addiction specialists with practical skills and strategies to provide effective, compassionate care.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, residents/fellows, and advanced practice providers who are non-addiction specialist clinicians.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Integrate evidence-based skills in routinely screening for substance use disorders in patients across multiple clinical settings and scenarios.
  • Determine medications for alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorder for the appropriate patients with confidence across multiple clinical settings and scenarios.
  • Manage intoxication, withdrawal and relapses of multiple substance use disorders with confidence across multiple clinical settings.
  • Utilize non-stigmatizing and patient-centered language and approaches when interacting and treating patients with substance use disorders.
