Mayo Clinic is committed to taking care of our learners and staff as we address the COVID-19 situation. In order to help protect our communities, and out of an abundance of caution, the School of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is suspending live courses and conferences through December 31, 2020.

At this time, CPD suggests suspending or changing delivery method for Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) with more than 10 in-person attendees. See individual RSS sessions for any changes to dates, times and delivery methods.

DESCRIPTION
Conferences take place weekly on Tuesdays from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm. Exceptions will be noted in the notifications. The conference type rotates between grand rounds, case conference, journal club and research conference and are jointly presented by both Gastroenterology and Hepatology divisions.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended primarily for physicians, fellows, residents, and all allied health are encouraged to attend when the topic is relevant to their clinical practice.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Research Conference: identify advances in research, epidemiology and statistical techniques. To apprise trainees of available research opportunities and facilitate mentorship.
  • Journal Club: examine and summarize the latest medical literature in a scientific forum by applying an evidence based approach
  • Grand Rounds: report the latest developments in gastroenterology and hepatology. To expose trainees to leaders in the field outside of Mayo Clinic via opportunities to meet one on one and discuss difficult cases and learn different approaches to management.
  • Case Conference: Select challenging GI and hepatology cases, debate management techniques and discuss literature pertinent to the case.
