Pre-Conference Workshop: Delivering Bad News and Communication During Transitions to End of Life Care
This skills workshop is specifically designed to equip providers with effective communication techniques and a variety of tools to take back to daily practice in caring for patients.
Participants of the Pre-conference Workshop: Delivering Bad News and Communication During Transitions to End of Life Care will receive Practical Plans for Difficult Conversations in Medicine: Strategies That Work in Breaking Bad News, 1 Pap/DVD Edition by Robert Buckman MBBCh.

Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Assemble and integrate new knowledge and research findings into the evaluation and treatment of Heme/Onc/BMT patients.
- Summarize current trends and describe new updates in colorectal cancer and lung cancer.
- Identify the most common side effects and general management strategies when using new treatments in immunotherapy.
- Identify aspects of Survivorship Clinic care relevant to your role in caring for Heme/Onc/BMT patients.
- Recognize and increase utilization of palliative care services and strategies in the care of Heme/Onc/BMT patients.
- Identify and manage long term side effects of BMT related to GVHD.
- Identify and initiate appropriate acute care workup of Hematology and Oncology patients.

The city is serviced by a modern international airport with multiple flights daily via American and Delta Airlines. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles from the Mayo Clinic campus.
