This two-and-a-half-day continuing medical education course provides a multidisciplinary update in prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, management, and treatment of benign and malignant breast diseases, and high risk and survivorship issues. The course has multidisciplinary experts in their field presenting the latest, diagnostic, treatment and management options. Highlights include, genetics and high-risk management, breast imaging modalities, supplemental screening options for dense breasts, and more.
Target Audience
This course is designed for primary care providers, oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, gynecologists, and advanced practice providers who diagnose and treat patients with breast cancer.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify risk of upgrade potential and management options for benign breast lesions
- Describe outcomes in radiation and reconstruction
- Describe management of gene mutation carriers with breast cancer
- Review thrombotic risk with tamoxifen, hormones and hereditary mutations
- Describe management options for aromatase inhibitors and selective estrogen receptor modulator side effects
- Review sexuality and breast cancer management options
- Describe adjuvant breast cancer therapy management
- Recognize management options of the high-risk patient including risk assessment, preventive therapy and role of hormone therapy
- Summarize present and future management strategies of axillary dissection post neoadjuvant treatment
- Recognize oncoplastic surgical options and role of minimally invasive surgery
- Summarize indications for postmastectomy radiation
