Target Audience

This workshop will discuss complex wound VAC therapy cases with hands on wound VAC therapy application on simulated wounds. The second portion of the workshop will highlight hands-on sharp debridement techniques with simulated wounds. Participants will be able to learn about multiple debridement techniques with the focus on sharp debridement. Participants will also be able to perform sharp debridement with multiple types tools such as scalpel, sharp scissors, and curettes. After completion of this workshop participants will be able to perform wound VAC therapy on complex patients in the acute care surgery field and establish a foundation of sharp debridement techniques for bedside debridement.

This workshop is designed for advanced practice providers including physician assistants and nurse practitioners. In addition, military members, physicians, clinical nurse specialists, nurse educators and nursing staff in trauma, acute care surgery, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine may benefit from this course.
