Hospital Medicine Simulation-Based Boot Camp 1.0 for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants is an interactive, hands-on learning experience that immerses Mayo Clinic clinicians into commonly encountered, hospital-based clinical scenarios.
This two-day simulation-based course was initially designed to serve as an adjunct to the orientation process in Hospital Medicine several years ago for new employees and has now grown to include new nurse practitioners and physician assistants in a variety of specialties at Mayo Clinic. Our goal is to share practical information and teach a few pearls of wisdom along the way as well. This is a wonderful course for newer NPPAs that are providing care for any hospitalized patient. Through simulations and chalk talks, we teach about diseases and problems that are commonly encountered when managing any hospitalized patient, regardless of the division.
Target Audience
This course is designed for nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe how to treat hospitalized patients using the most current evidence-based practices.
- Explain how to use Ask Mayo Expert as a reference tool for step-wise approach to work-up for common diagnoses seen in hospitalized patients.
