Mayo Clinic's 98th Annual Clinical Reviews seeks to update primary care providers on the latest recommendations involving medical subspecialties. The course provides a comprehensive program of lectures on topics of general interest in medicine, surgery, and pediatrics relevant to clinical practice.

This course also offers an optional pre-course ABFM Knowledge Self-Assessment session the preceding Sunday, November 3, 2024.  Available at registration.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses practicing in primary care, family medicine, and internal medicine.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Assess the relevant vaccinations given to both children and adults for protection against preventable infectious diseases.
  • Describe the revised 2024 GOLD COPD guidelines related to prevention, diagnosis and management.
  • Develop evidence-based treatment recommendations for managing symptoms during perimenopause and menopause, incorporating both lifestyle adjustments and pharmacological approaches.
  • Identify non-statin treatment options for the management of hyperlipidemia.
  • Recognize opportunities to improve the accuracy of physical examinations in diagnosing prevalent musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Formulate an enhanced diagnostic investigation for thrombocytopenia.
  • Apply best practices in the management of prevalent pediatric urological conditions.

Travel

Rochester, Minnesota, is a friendly city that greets thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The city is serviced by a modern international airport with multiple flights and connections daily. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles from the Mayo Clinic campus.

Note to Travelers: Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you make airline reservations and check your baggage, be sure that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota (RST) and that your baggage has been properly tagged.

Flying through the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is another option. There are two shuttle services that provide direct service to Mayo Clinic and the surrounding area. Travel time is approximately 90 minutes.
