This course is designed for MCHS physician leaders to receive education in:

  • Mission and margin for the non-profit
  • Financial reporting, focus on profit/loss, and ratio analysis
  • Correlation of clinical activity and decisions to the financial impact
  • Gross and net revenue factors


Leadership and Personnel Management:

  • Change management
  • Critical conversations
  • Taking ownership as a leader
  • Succession planning
  • Evaluations and crucial conversations
  • Recruitment


The course will be coordinated and taught by MCHS leaders and University of Wisconsin Eau Claire faculty. 

Target Audience

Target audience is for current and upcoming physician leaders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize mission and margin for the non-profit.
  • Define financial reporting, focus on profit/loss, gross/net revenue factors and performance metrics.
  • Describe how data drives decisions and assess and determine mitigation strategies for when results are not as expected.
  • Use strategy to determine and maintain alignment across organization.
  • Review basic strategic planning concepts and how applicable to MCHS.
  • Review the importance of employee relations for retention and the power of feedback.
