The purpose of the symposium is to introduce the latest updates and advances in the field of onco-nephrology with the intent of boosting knowledge and confidence in the provider that cares for patients with cancer related kidney disease. The best practices and management of cancer related kidney diseases will be presented by national and international experts. Topics include, overcoming nephrotoxicity of chemotherapeutic agents, principles of drug dosing in patients with chronic kidney disease, patients with dialysis dependent end stage renal disease, and much more. The interactive format encourages an environment where participants can exchange ideas with the experts.
 

Target Audience

This symposium is intended for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical students and other healthcare professionals in nephrology, hematology, oncology, hospital medicine, and internal medicine.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify and diagnose acute kidney injury caused by chemotherapeutic agents
  • Describe the diagnostic evaluation and management of electrolyte abnormalities in patients with cancer
  • Describe epidemiology and new treatment paradigms in patients with monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance and myeloma cast nephropathy
  • Review dosing of chemotherapy in patients with chronic kidney disease or dialysis dependent end stage kidney disease
  • Review renal replacement therapy and kidney transplantation
  • Examine overcoming nephrotoxicity of check point inhibitors
