The purpose of the symposium is to introduce the latest updates and advances in the field of onco-nephrology with the intent of boosting knowledge and confidence in the provider that cares for patients with cancer related kidney disease. The best practices and management of cancer related kidney diseases are presented by national and international experts. Topics include, overcoming nephrotoxicity of chemotherapeutic agents, principles of drug dosing in patients with chronic kidney disease, patients with dialysis dependent end stage renal disease, and much more. The interactive format encourages an environment where participants can exchange ideas with the experts.

Call for Abstracts

As part of the Onco-Nephrology Symposium 2025, all participants involved in the area of onco-nephrology are invited to submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation.  Any projects that pertain to the training and practice of onco-nephrology or a focus on onco-nephrology disorders are welcome.  They may include guidelines, randomized trials, outcome studies, practice innovations, case studies or descriptive analyses.  Abstracts should be 300 words or less and may include one figure or table.

Abstract Eligibility:  Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered.  Previously published abstracts should be sufficiently modified.

Submission Criteria:

  • Create a profile if you have not done so already, then log into your account
  • Complete and submit abstract form no later than May 10, 2025
  • Abstracts are limited to 300 words
  • Complete the form 

Notification of Results:  All primary authors will be notified by June 10, 2025 if their submission has been selected for presentation.  Details regarding presentation will follow.  

Presentation of Abstracts:  Abstracts chosen for presentation will be uploaded to the conference website and presented during the live and livestream course.

Target Audience

This symposium is intended for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical students and other healthcare professionals in nephrology, hematology, oncology, hospital medicine, and internal medicine.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how to manage nephrotoxicity caused by newly developed anticancer treatments.
  • Manage kidney transplant complications in patients with malignancies.
  • Recognize the risks of immunotherapy-related complications in kidney transplant recipients.
  • Implement preventive measures for AKI in patients receiving conventional anticancer treatments.
  • Evaluate glomerular filtration rate in cancer patients to determine appropriate anticancer treatment dosages.
  • Identify paraneoplastic glomerular lesions.
  • Manage kidney complications associated with dysproteinemias and stem cell transplants.

Getting Around - Rochester Travel Map

 

Travel

Rochester, Minnesota is serviced by the Rochester International Airport (RST) with multiple flights and connections daily. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles south from the Mayo Clinic campus.

Note to Travelers: Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you make airline reservations and check your baggage, be sure that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota (RST) and that your baggage has been properly tagged.

Flying through the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is another option. There are two shuttle services that provide direct service to Mayo Clinic and the surrounding area. MSP is located approximately 80 miles north of Rochester with a drive time of approximately 90 minutes.
