This special conference provides attendees the opportunity to explore emotional wellness for oneself and the knowledge to positively impact wellness for those living with dementia. Emotional wellbeing is examined from personal, cultural, and diverse perspectives. The impressive slate of conference presenters and facilitators include those living with dementia, care partners, healthcare professionals, artists, advocates, and researchers who are all dedicated to this topic.

A variety of breakout sessions provide attendees an opportunity to customize their day with valuable information, practical tools, and relevant resources, all while feeling the empowerment that comes from connecting.  (Please note the afternoon breakout sessions are pre-selected for all virtual attendees)

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify ways people living with dementia have found a life of wellbeing despite the challenges and obstacles of dementia
  • Define strategies to increase emotional wellness for yourself, as well as anyone living with dementia that you care for and support
  • Compare insights and understanding about dementia from a cultural perspective, specifically Indigenous Communities and African American and East African Caregivers
  • Demonstrate key communication skills necessary for person-centered dementia care
  • Differentiate the unique mental health needs of families impacted by Lewy body dementia
  • Cite ways to empower care partner spouses of younger-onset dementia
  • Apply knowledge on new and upcoming drugs to treat Alzheimer's disease
