Lectures cover management of acute ischemic stroke, brain hemorrhage, and symptomatic and asymptomatic vascular lesions, including arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, cerebral aneurysms, and carotid stenosis.

Call for Abstracts

It is our great pleasure to invite you to submit an abstract to be included in an electronic poster session at the Mayo Clinic 18th Annual Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Review conference October 14-17, 2026, at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, Amelia Island, Florida.

Abstract Eligibility: Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered for the conference. Abstracts based on published papers based on stroke will also be considered. Research Competition: Outstanding abstracts will be selected for electronic poster presentations at the 2026 Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Review course.

Research Competition: Outstanding abstracts will be selected by our course directors for an electronic poster presentation at the course.

Number of Entries: A participant may be the primary author on no more than two abstracts; however, he or she may be a contributing author on any number of abstracts.

Submission Deadline: Abstract submission deadline is Friday, August 28, 2026
Notification of Results: All primary authors will be notified no later than Friday, September 4, 2026, if their submission has been selected for the poster session. Details regarding poster set-up will follow. Early submissions may be accepted and notified prior to the above date.

Target Audience

This course is designed for neurologists, neurosurgeons, interventional neuroradiologists, primary care physicians, emergency department physicians, neurology residents, vascular neurology fellows, and stroke center team members, including nurse practitioners, nurses, PAs, physical and occupational therapists, and speech therapists.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Recognize the eligibility criteria for intravenous thrombolysis (tPA/tenecteplase) in acute ischemic stroke and identify endovascular therapy candidates with large vessel occlusion (LVO)
Compare standard and emerging treatment options for cerebrovascular disease
Evaluate recent clinical trial data and their impact on treatment options for stroke patients.
Describe recent developments in stroke prevention strategies
Identify modifiable stroke risk factors and evidence-based interventions (e.g., blood pressure control, anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation)
Recognize the signs and symptoms of stroke that prompt emergency evaluation and earlier evidence-based treatment
