Oncology Core Nursing Curriculum: Nutrition in Active Treatment and Recovery for Patients with Cancer

This module will discuss nutrition during active cancer treatment and recovery, particularly for hematology, oncology and blood marrow transplant patients. The goal of this module is to provide awareness of what patients are hearing from their nutrition team.

 

Target Audience

This CNE course is designed for nurses in hematology/oncology or who are interested in the specialty.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the risks and consequences of malnutrition in patients going through active cancer treatment & recovery
  • Identify higher risk and lower risk food choices during period of immunocompromise
