This course offers an overview of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), focusing on its underlying pathophysiology and disease progression. Learners will identify the key signs and symptoms associated with MDS to support accurate assessment and early recognition. The course also highlights essential nursing considerations, including evidence-based interventions and patient education.

Target Audience

This educational activity is intended for nurses in both the inpatient and ambulatory setting, who are caring for patients with MDS or are at risk for MDS.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  • Describe the pathophysiology of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS)
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS)
  • Explain the nursing considerations for patients with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS)
