Radiation Oncology Nursing Curriculum: Radiobiology

This course provides an overview of radiobiology and will explain the different types of radiation used to treat patients with cancer.

Target Audience

This nursing course is designed for nurses caring for patients in active radiation therapy or have received radiation therapy as part of their cancer treatment.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe different types of radiation therapy and their effects on cells and tissues
  • Explain treatment planning goals, modalities, and key considerations in dose selection
  • Verbalize an understanding of treatment planning, fractionation, and patient-centered education resources
