This session builds upon foundational knowledge of tuberculosis (TB) and mental illness (MI) by further exploring practical strategies for supporting individuals facing both conditions. The speaker discussed approaches to enhancing patient-centered care, addressing mental health challenges in TB treatment adherence, and navigating the intersection of psychiatric and infectious disease management.

Target Audience

This course is designed for allied health professionals, nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants, resident/fellows, and healthcare professionals working in a public healthcare setting.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify key strategies to support individuals with both TB and mental illness.
  • Recognize practical approaches to integrating mental health support within TB care settings.
  • Recognize common barriers to TB treatment among individuals with mental health conditions and explore solutions to mitigate these challenges.
