The Ultrasound Research Center at Mayo Clinic was established to be a multidisciplinary ultrasound research nexus, comprising engineers and physicists performing world-class basic research partnered with clinicians practicing cutting-edge translational medicine that utilizes the entire array of ultrasound technologies.

Abstract Submission

We are seeking submissions from Mayo Clinic physicians, scientists, residents, fellows, PAs, and sonographers who are engaged in ultrasound research, clinical practice innovation, education or policy change. The presentation and/or poster should include an emphasis on innovations in practice and clinical research related to advanced practitioner practice in internal medicine and/or hospital practice. This could include an interesting case or case series or quality improvement project.

Abstract selection will be based on the quality and clarity of the abstract and relevance to practice environment. A number of the abstract submitters will be asked to give a 15 minute presentation at the Ultrasound Research Center Symposium on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Target Audience

This course is designed for radiology, ultrasound, cardiovascular engineers, physicists, researchers and clinicians.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe state-of-the-art research on medical ultrasound.
  • Identify common, critical issues that have been encountered in applying ultrasound technologies and creative approaches to solve them.
  • Discuss opportunities for greater research collaboration across disciplines, sectors, initiatives, and departments.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the development of the field of ultrasound research including concepts, frameworks, measures and methods.
  • Examine current research and clinical practices from disciplines outside of one’s own to find improvement opportunities.
