Entrepreneurship 101 Workshop 2022

This workshop uses experiential approaches to teach about entrepreneurship through the development of a life sciences startup idea. Participants learn about entrepreneurship and startup development through exemplar scenarios, customer discovery exercises, value mapping, and idea-based business development. The workshop is designed to train participants in entrepreneurial development and provide a deeper understanding of the culture of entrepreneurship as well as tools and resources that facilitate the development of a startup at Mayo Clinic. This workshop culminates with participants delivering a two-minute business pitch on their developed problem and vison of a solution.

Upon conclusion of this course, the learner should be able to
- Describe how to assess the validity of an idea and understand if a business can be built around that idea.
- Review how to structure and perform customer interviews to gain impactful feedback on your startup concept.
- Illustrate how to validate and frame customer needs for business idea through value mapping and fit.
- Describe how to develop and present a 2 min business pitch.
