Minimally Disruptive Medicine: Effective Care that Fits 2016 - General Session
Course Directors: Victor M. Montori, M.D., Kasey R. Boehmer, M.P.H.
Too often healthcare is not kind or careful. This is a two-day, intensive course that gives participants a kind and careful frame for considering the provision of healthcare for patients with chronic conditions: Minimally Disruptive Medicine (MDM). It is intended for healthcare team members interested in applying the concepts of MDM in practice, for researchers interested in contributing to the ideas, tools, practice and implementation of MDM, and for patients with chronic conditions, particularly those leading organizations advocates, or involved in engagement activities. The two days are divided into brief lectures and interactive workshop sessions that cover concepts of MDM, research work to-date, MDM tools for practice, and consideration of practical steps to implement the work discussed into participants’ unique contexts and to advance the knowledge of MDM through research. Participants have ample opportunities to have in-depth discussion with those at the front lines of advancing these concepts in clinical and research spheres during very small and focused sessions.
