Mayo Clinic's 5th Annual Sports Medicine for the Primary Care Clinician 2021 in Orlando, Florida offers attendees the confidence to accurately diagnose and treat sports-related conditions, as well as injuries sustained during recreational physical activities. It helps increase knowledge on appropriate testing and referral criteria, as well as teaches what is on the horizon for diagnosis and treatment. The course also helps to improve specific skills in physical exam and imaging interpretation, to assist in the prompt determination of conditions that may have implications in sports and recreational physical activities.

This course supplements skills learned in training for various types and levels of clinicians, allowing participants to fill in gaps in knowledge and abilities. It helps reinforce existing knowledge of musculoskeletal conditions’ diagnosis and treatment. Topics discussed include procedural techniques that clinicians can utilize for athletes and active individuals. The course also delves into medical conditions that can have effects and implications on sports/recreational physical activity participation, performance, and recovery.

Target Audience

This course is designed for athletic trainers, physical therapists, NPs, PAs, sports medicine physicians, family physicians, physiatrists, internists, pediatricians, ER physicians, orthopedists, and medical providers involved in the care and management of athletes and active individuals in clinic or non-operative/non-surgical/non-invasive settings.
