This three-day course is designed to provide the latest diagnostic and treatment strategies for comprehensive wound management. The course is multidisciplinary with faculty representing various wound-related fields. Multiple educational formats are used, including didactic sessions, interactive panel discussions, and case presentations that offer comprehensive wound-management strategies (from basics to high-level). A wound ambassador dinner with case presentations, faculty, and Q&A with audience participation rounds out the first day. The course meets the continuing education needs of a range of wound care providers, from novices to experts.

Student Scholarships
A limited number [10] of scholarships will be awarded to selected active student learners who are currently enrolled in a training program. Scholarships will be provided to offer a discounted $100 registration fee. Those interested in receiving a scholarship are required to submit a brief 1 paragraph essay explaining the importance and relevance of attending this symposium. Essays will be reviewed, and scholarship recipients determined by the course directors. This is a two-step process: 1) Submit your essay here. 2) After essays are reviewed and accepted, details will be provided to recipients on how to register. The deadline for submission is December 1, 2024, 5:00 PM CST.

Poster Abstracts

The 2025 Mayo Clinic Wound Symposium: The Edges of Wound Care will feature a poster session with the goal of sharing knowledge, showcasing participants’ work, and stimulating dialogue among conference attendees. All approved posters will be displayed at the symposium. The top 2 posters will be invited to present an oral presentation at the live symposium on February 26, 2025.

Posters can feature data-driven original research on any aspect of wound care, describe innovative clinical programs or projects related to the assessment and treatment of wound patients, or explicate training methods used to increase clinician effectiveness in evaluating such patients.

Participants are encouraged to submit projects highlighting programs and initiatives that impact the practice, education, research, and administrative environments in health care, and abstracts that provide evidence and successful models for engaging targeted stakeholders and constituents and advancing health care delivery.

We invite you to take advantage of the unique opportunity and submit an abstract to be presented as a poster during the Wound Symposium: The Edges of Wound Care 2025. Submission due date: December 9, 2024, 5:00 PM CST.

Mayo Clinic Wound Ambassador Dinner - Case Presentation Abstracts

Thursday, February 27, 2025, 5:30-7:30 PM

Case presentations, Discussion and Question and Answer Session with Faculty and Audience

Up to six challenging wound care cases will be presented and discussed the evening of February 27, 2025. The purpose of the case presentations will be to enhance an open and transparent educational opportunity for each of the attendees to learn approaches to various wound care diagnostic and treatment pathways. The discussions will be based upon peer reviewed published data and clinical expertise. This will be an open forum style question and answer format led by the Wound Symposium organizers and faculty.

Please feel free to submit a case presentation abstract (300 words or less, no photos or references to products or devices in the abstract submissions), that would be a 5–10-minute case presentation with accompanying up to 5 PowerPoint slides.

Case abstracts submission due date is January 1, 2025, 5:00 PM CST. The organizing committee will review each submitted case presentation and submitters will be notified by January 15, 2025, of a decision. Final PowerPoint presentations (5 slides maximum) are due by February 1, 2025. Accepted abstract presenters will receive complimentary registration to the Wound Ambassador Dinner.

Target Audience

This multidisciplinary course is intended for healthcare providers who care for patients with wounds. Disciplines include physicians, pedorthists, podiatrists, advanced practice providers (NP/PA), WOC, CNS, RN, LPN, physical therapists, dietitians, medical trainees (medical students, residents, fellows, etc.) and others who care for patients with wounds.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Discuss diagnostic approaches to management of foot ulcerations in the setting of peripheral arterial disease and critical limb ischemia.
Identify surgical, medical management and other treatment modalities for complex wounds.
Discuss advanced methods for noninvasive tools for prevention and identification prior to wound development.
