Critical Care Procedures (3:00 - 5:00 p.m.)

The Critical Care Procedures workshop is designed for providers interested in mastering procedures in a critical care or emergency medicine setting. The skills lab will include brief didactic and a hands-on learning environment to achieve successful procedures.
Procedures included in the critical care skills lab include:
- Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
- Central line placement
- Chest tube placement
LIVE (in-person) attendees must comply with all live course requirements and guidelines and applicable state and local COVID-19 travel restrictions, guidance and resources.
Learners who do not fulfill the requirements will be unable to attend the live (in-person) event. Requirements and guidelines may be amended as CDC, public health and other relevant guidance are adjusted.
This course is designed for advanced practitioners including physician assistants and nurse practitioners. In addition, physicians, clinical nurse specialist, nurse educators and nursing staff in trauma, acute care surgery, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine may benefit from this course.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Complete a FAST exam with ultrasound
- Describe and demonstrate successful intubation
- Describe and demonstrate central vascular access
- Describe and demonstrate chest tube placement
