Mayo Clinic’s 23rd Annual Internal Medicine Update: Sedona 2021 is a four-day course (offered twice) offering internal medicine physicians, family physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants a practical update on a variety of subspecialty topics applicable to today’s practice and patients.  If you prefer to register for the second session, October 28-31, 2021 click here.

23rd Annual Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine Update: Sedona 2021 is a four-day course offering primary care physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants a practical update on a variety of subspecialty topics, including atrial fibrillation, bias and behaviors, bio modulators, bioethics, breast cancer, chronic kidney disease, chronic liver disease, contraception, diabetes, heart failure, HIV, management of transgender patients, non-cancer prostate problems, non-myeloma plasma cell dyscrasias, occupational lung disease, osteoporosis, pain management, peripheral arterial disease, pulmonary update, quality improvement, screening for nutritional deficiencies, stroke, therapeutic use of CBD, tips for caregivers of patients with dementia, transitions of care and wound management.

There will be two sessions: October 14-17 and October 28-31, 2021. While the same 30-minute presentation topics will be included for both sessions, the faculty and order of presentations may vary. In addition to the didactic format for lectures, the program will include two daily question-and-answer sessions and audience participation is encouraged through the use of interactive keypads.

Target Audience

The intended audience includes physicians and advance practice providers who practice in primary care settings throughout the U.S. and are interested in clinically based, high yield updates in primary care topics.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe rational strategies for insulin management
  • Demonstrate the rationale for the use of anticoagulation and anti-platelet agents in specific cerebrovascular and stroke syndromes
  • Detail an approach to the work up and management of chronic kidney disease in primary care
  • Formulate an evidence-based approach to the pharmacological management of osteoporosis
  • Describe current guidance available for the management of transgender patients in primary care
