24th Annual Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine Update: Sedona October 27 - 30, 2022 General Session

This annual four-day course (offered twice) provides the primary care team a practical update on a variety of subspecialty topics immediately applicable to today’s primary care practice. A variety of popular, subspecialty topics are discussed, derived from prior participant feedback and recent advances in medicine.

This course has two sessions: October 13-16 and October 27-30, 2022. While the same 30-minute presentation topics are included for both sessions, the faculty and order of presentations may vary. In addition to the didactic format for lectures, the program includes two daily question-and-answer sessions; and audience participation is encouraged through the use of Vevox.

 

LIVE (in-person) attendees must comply with all live course requirements and guidelines and applicable state and local COVID-19 travel restrictions, guidance and resources.  

Please note that LIVE course attendees must: 

  • Complete COVID-19  testing of any kind (home tests are acceptable) and received a negative test result within 72 hours of the event start date OR
  • A positive COVID-19 test result of any kind was received within the past 90 days, it has been at least 10 days since COVID-19 infection, and you are currently asymptomatic.  
  • You must be logged in to ce.mayo.edu to complete your attestation.   (Attestations can be completed starting Monday, October 24, 2022) 

Learners who do not fulfill the above requirements will be unable to attend this live (in-person) event.

Target Audience

The intended audience includes physicians and advance practice providers who practice in primary care settings throughout the U.S., and are interested in clinically based, high-yield updates about primary care topics.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe an approach to management of postmenopausal syndromes.
  • Differentiate between movement disorders and accurately diagnose.
  • Describe an approach for appropriate management of congestive heart failure.
  • Utilize best practices in the management of COPD.
  • Describe the impact of diagnostic uncertainty.
  • Recognize the importance of evaluating and treating anemias.
  • Interpret what is known about COVID long-haul syndrome.
  • Develop an algorithm for diagnosis and treatment of POTS.
  • Develop awareness of specific targeted therapies in cancer treatment.
  • Design a rational approach to solving problems in the management of hypertension.
  • Develop a rational approach for the evaluation and diagnosis of esophageal disorders.

A rental vehicle is recommended. The Hilton Sedona Resort is located just 90 minutes north of Phoenix, Arizona and only two and a half hours away from the Grand Canyon.
